Treelight

This little painting, measuring 18 x 24 cm, is a close-up exploration of light through tree branches. From some of my earliest paintings, I have been interested in painting light, specifically the light shimmering through the leaves on tree branches. The zoomed-in nature of this small painting leaves out any reference point other than the greens and yellows of the leaves and the white-yellow of the sunlight. Like a detail from a larger painting, this study of light can be experienced as an abstract impression of the shape of light coming through leaves.
